The logical structure of a Jaz© cartridge is very similar to that of a hard disk. Therefore, in case of data loss, different recovery systems exist to recover lost data caused by inaccessible parts of an invalid FAT, unreadable sectors, etc.
In 80% of the cases presented to us, we are able to perform a successful recovery.
Error messages that may occur are:
- Invalid or corrupt FAT
- Invalid partition
- Invalid sector
- Cannot find data
- Disk I/0 Error
The recovered data is saved onto a CD or DVD.

What you must never do
In case of hard disk failure:
Secure your data. Do NOT use the hard disk if an operating system is installed and in use (switch off your computer). Do not install any software on the hard disk.
Never try to open the hard disk yourself. This may only be done in a clean room. Dust in the air will deposit on the platters and the reading heads will not be able anymore to accurately read the data from the magnetic fields on the platters. Even the slightest deviation in this delicate process constitutes corrupt files and destroys the data making data recovery impossible.
